Declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Tikal National Park shelters the remains of one of the largest and most important cities in the Pre-Hispanic history of the Maya Civilization as well as 550 square kilometers (212 square miles) of exuberant rainforest, home to a great diversity of flora and fauna.
