Central America is already open for international travel, flight routes and frequencies are slowly increasing and others are expected to resume in December, today we will be covering which countries have also opened their land borders allowing to travel by land and their restrictions.

 Belize's land border with Guatemala is open, applying same procotols as per air traveling.

  • All travelers must download Belize Health App and complete required information
  • Bookings can only be made at approved hotels with the Gold Standard Certification
  • Take a PCR test withing 72 hours of boarding flight as a negative result.

Guatemala's land borders with Belize, Honduras and El Salvador are open, applying same procotols as per air traveling.

  • Tourists must follow all customs and local health protocols. This includes wearing a mask or face shield in nearly all indoors circumstances
  • Tourists must present proof of a negative PCR coronavirus test. The result must have been received within the 72 hours before their travel to Guatemala.
  • Follow all instructions of social distancing (1.5mts of distance)
  • Mandatory walk through thermal heat scanners (equal or higher than 38 degrees Celsius or respiratory symptoms, will be processed for further examination)
  • Tourists must fill online form https://servicios.igm.gob.gt/pasedesalud/

El Salvador's land borders with Guatemala and Honduras are open, applying same procotols as per air traveling.

  • Tourists must present proof of a negative PCR coronavirus test. The result must have been received within the 72 hours before their travel to El Salvador.
  • Tourists must follow all customs and local health protocols. This includes wearing a mask or face shield in nearly all indoors circumstances.

Honduras land borders with Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua are open applying same procotols as per air traveling.

  • Tourists must fill online checking at www.prechequeo.inm.gob.hn
  • Tourists must present proof of a negative PCR coronavirus test. The result must have been received within the 72 hours before their travel to Honduras.
  • Tourists must follow all customs and local health protocols. This includes wearing a mask or face shield in nearly all indoors circumstances

Nicaragua's land borders with Honduras are open, entry from Costa Rica is allowed but not possible to return to Costa Rica from Nicaragua. 

  • Tourists must present proof of a negative PCR coronavirus test. The result must have been received within the 72 hours before their travel to Nicaragua.

Costa Rica's land borders are not open for entry.

Panama's land borders with Costa Rica remain unavailable until Costa Rica allows land conectivity.
